Haewoon Nam received the Bachelor of Science degree from Hanyang University, the Master of Science degree from Seoul National University, and the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
From 1999 to 2002, he was with Samsung Electronics, Suwon, Korea, where he was engaged in the design and development of CDMA and GSM/GPRS baseband modem processors. In the summer of 2003, he was with the IBM T.J. Watson research center, Yorktown Heights, NY, where he performed extensive radio channel measurements and analysis at 60GHz. In the fall of 2005, he was with the wireless mobile system group, Freescale semiconductor, Austin, TX, where he was engaged in the design and test of WiMAX MAC layer. His industry experience also includes work at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, Kiheung, Korea, where he participated in the simulation of MIMO systems for the 3GPP LTE standard. In October 2006, he joined the Mobile Devices Technology Office, Motorola Inc., Austin, TX, where he was involved in algorithm design and development for 3GPP LTE mobile systems including modeling of 3GPP LTE modem processor. Later in 2010, he was with Apple Inc., Cupertino, CA, where he worked on research and development of next-generation smart mobile systems. Since March 2011, he has been with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Hanyang University, where he is a professor.
He is a recipient of the Korean government overseas scholarship for his doctoral studies in the field of electrical engineering and is a senior member of IEEE.
